phlegm

Y’know, 2008 to this point can be summed up by one word: phlegm.

I’ve battled a sinus infection since the dawn of the new year, and it’s been a pain. It’s meant little time on the bike, restless sleep (with messed up sleep patterns), losing my sense of taste for periods of time, coughing up lots of phlegm, and being a major supporter of Procter & Gamble, whose Puffs Plus facial tissues have been used in great numbers. And I’ve consumed a lot of fluids, in the form of juice, tea, coffee, soda, water, beer (not much of that), and vapor from the hot shower.

Sunday was a change, though. I managed to get through a day with little in the way of coughing, fewer tissues used, little in the way of technicolor phlegm (gross, but necessary info to frame the joy I feel). I managed to get out on the bike for an hour or so, riding some hills in the mild January weather. sprite and I went on an enjoyable trip to Whole Paycheck Foods, where we stocked up on supplies for much culinary mischief.

So I go back to work with a more positive feeling, physically, than I’ve had in a while. And the mild weather means the commute will be mercifully easy, in transition back to the inevitable cold.
