new bike update

So I’ve had the Pedal Force ZX3 for a few weeks now, but haven’t had the chance to build it up until now. And that’s largely due to the fact that I’m home sick, so there’s time to fill.

So in the next day or two, I’ll build up the bike.

Right now, it’s mostly a mass of parts: a frame that has a seatpost and seat installed to allow me to place it into a workstand; a set of wheels sitting in a box, with a new cassette installed. A new handlebar with the brifters installed in their final position. A fork that needs to have its crown race installed by a shop (I don’t have the right tools to set it with confidence).

And a box of other parts that will make up the rest of the bike.

I’m slated to lead a PPTC ride on Sunday (provided I’m healthy by then), and I’ll likely lead it on the Jamis, as there’s no question as to whether it will be ride-ready. But there is an off-chance that I’ll be on the Pedal Force on Sunday. We’ll see. But I’m enjoying the challenge of building the bike, and I think the final result will be a lot of fun to ride.
