Yesterday, sprite and I went to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival to take in an annual tradition: hanging out with sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas and angora rabbits, seeing the sheepdogs do their thing, and marveling at the wonderful wool products.
It took us a while to get there, as I took the long way to West Friendship (note to self: take Route 29 to Route 32 next year, instead of Route 97 – you’ll be much happier). But once we were there, we really enjoyed the day. We started out with lunch of hummus, pita and a red birch beer. After that, we admired the many sheep. Judging of the sheep was taking place, so we got to see many in their “stage costumes.” We befriended some freshly-shorn lambs. We saw some talented border collies wrangle sheep. And the yarn was simply over-the-top.
Click here to see pictures from the fest. As is tradition, I rode my bike back from West Friendship to DC. And that’s another story, altogether.
