spotlight on web friends: iron wil

I don’t know if any of you have ever visited Iron Wil’s “Through Th3 Wall”. She always has the most well-written tales of training for the Ironman: the blood, sweat and tears of putting your body through challenges that 99 percent of people never do. Her writing style is often so detailed, warm and accessible, that you completely understand where she’s coming from. Whether she’s writing about a brick, or a movie, or a bike saddle (and I’m with ‘ya, Wil: Fi’zik saddles are very nice, even though they don’t fit my posterior too well).

I miss that she no longer has comments on her site. One of the best parts of having a blog is the dialog that can develop in comments. And while I understand why she turned off comments on all but a handful of posts, I miss the banter (good and bad) that developed. Of course, it takes time and energy to read through the sheer volume of comments her posts attracted, and it’s tough to keep up with such things when you’re training for an elite athletic event, raising kids, teaching and trying to have a fairly normal social life.

So hi there, Wil! Keep up the excellent work, ride like hell (and I hope to ride with you this year, disaster willing), and smile a lot. It suits you.

Oh, one more thing: Aries is very fitting. See if you can get a custom decal for your steed – that’d rock.
