Surprise!
I found a long ride – in Massachusetts!
Thanks to the fact that sprite was homesick, she found a ride for me: the Great River Ride, a century out of Westfield, MA. The coolest part of this (other than the weather) is that it’s also a Randonneurs USA brevet populaire ride, which is a perfect practice for my super secret cycling goal for 2007.
(For those who are already in the know, a practice brevet is a good thing, any way you look at it.)
So I’m set for the ride: I brought my cold-weather riding gear (though I had to buy a new skullcap today, as I couldn’t find my old one amongst the chaos that is The Burrow), I’ve replaced my front tire (the old one had over 3,000 miles on it and was looking the part), and I’m carb-fortified for the task. The route is hilly, and the fall colors should be intense, making for wonderful scenery.
