Thanks to a bit of a search (thanks, sprite), the tax forms (W-2, 1040 and D-40) were found and filled out.
End result: I owe the feds and the District owes me.
The totals don’t balance out, but that’s okay by me. At least they’re done.

I e-filed my taxes last night. I was delighted to get lots of money back. Then I thought about how the reason for all that refund was the destruction my tenants did to my condo and all the expenses in repairing that, how the refund was a little bit less than the cost of all that work… Then I compartmentalized the condo work into ancient history, and the tax refund into found money, so I could be happy about it again, and bought myself a new toy.

I think that I missed out on the federal refund because I’m on the cusp of different tax brackets. C’est la vie.
But you bought a new toy? Cool! Do tell, do tell!

I finally treated myself to a Sony PSP. They had just done a price reduction, which turned out to also be a feature reduction – now they are only selling the core system, so if you want things like memory cards headphones, carrying strap, and a soft case, you have to buy those separately. Of course, the memory cards they used to come with were the small size, and I would have gotten a larger one anyway. The soft case might have been nice, but I bought a Pelican carry-all for it, so I can know where the power cables are. Headphones also would have been nice, but there are lots of options available from ear buds to around the neck headphones ranging from $10 to $50. I expect there is a similar range in quality, though no guarantees that the curve matches exactly. I picked up some headphones so I can take advantage of its MP3 playing abilities. I don’t have an iPod, so that capability is nice, although I would prefer 30 or 40 GB storage to the 1 MB card I was able to get.
It’s shiny. They graphics are every bit as beautiful as the hype lead you to believe.
