Another splendid cycling day. There were some crowds at the beginning and end of the ride, no doubt due to the cherry blossoms on the Tidal Basin (gonna see ’em at sunrise tomorrow on a PPTC ride). But I was able to keep up a good clip, which actually kept my heart rate down in my target area for the ride. Overall, I felt better in the saddle today than I did yesterday, so the base miles for centuries are there – my guess is that I could ride about 65 to 70 miles right now, at this pace and on moderate terrain, before bonking. And I had good inspiration along the route, as I rode along with a rider from Purcelville for a stretch. He’d been on a ride to Mt. Vernon, VA, and back home again – about 110 miles for the day.
