Just heard this one from President Bush:
“Bureaucracy’s not going to stand in the way of getting the job done.”
No, it isn’t – especially when the federal bureaucracy refused to do anything until well after the point of being effective.
In the same photo op, Bush also said that he’s going to send VP Cheney to NOLA to “see if things are working.” Note that Cheney just returned from vacation – what the fuck was he doing on vacation all thie time?!?!
And being such a mama’s boy, Bush could always listen to his mom, who says that things are “going very well” for evacuees. Barbara Bush was where, exactly, to say this? Oh, I see – she was in Houston, going on hearsay of what was going on at the Astrodome… where the people will be moved to cruise ships for further housing. Thes cruise ships will float in the Gulf of Mexico, with the prospect of further hurricanes, ship-borne diseases, etc. How lovely!
And shouldn’t Bush have gotten some semblance of a clue when he was down in Biloxi and Gulfport? Oh, sorry – he’s incapable of listening to the people he talks with. After all, he couldn’t listen to two women who needed clothes, instead directing them to get food and water.
Our nation’s president is fucking clueless!

Rudi, You’ve got to see Babs’ full quote. It’s unbelievable. I posted it on my blog. It’s been picked up round the world. The Daily Mirror (UK) said that the crass remark revealed the priorities of the Bush administration.
