I was going to head out on the PPTC Tuesday night ride, but came home to find my rear tire (which needs replacing, anyway) was flat. Totally flat.
So I’m in the market for a new rear tire a little earlier than expected. I’m running a Specialized Mondo 700x23c on the front, and I really like it. The now-spent rear tire was a Michelin Megamium 2 700x23c, and was a good tire. I’ve also had good experience with the Michelin Pro Race and the IRC Redstorm, which originally came with the bike.
I’ve had bad tire experiences with Maxxis road tires.
I’m leaning toward a matching Mondo in the rear, but would love to hear others’ opinions. So, to my five three readers who ride: any thoughts?

I found a new tire before the crash ride – bought another Mondo Pro to match the front. It’s not a perfect match – the new tire has blue trim, whereas the front one is all black – but it rode well.
Right now the bike needs a bit of TLC, post-crash. The front wheel took a good hit and needs to be trued, and the back wheel could use a true, as well. I need new brake pads up front. I’ll also change out the rear cogs and slap on a new chain before I ride again.
The biggest obstacle right now is that I can’t lift the bike with both arms. So the service will wait until later. But the bike will be primed for my return to two wheels.
Thanks for reading!
