Says NBC’s Tim Russert on this morning’s Today show, regarding Karl Rove and White House scapegoating:
“As one Republican said to me last night, if this was a Democratic White House we’d have congressional hearings in a second.”
Yet are the Dems calling en masse for an investigation? Not really. Sure, there are some White House hopefuls who are making noise (Clinton and Kerry), and the ever-reliable Reid is also chiming in. But this is nothing compared to the full-bore attack the Republicans placed on President Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal.
We Dems still need to work on growing the spine a bit.

The Carpetbagger said that we need to hold the Republicans’ feet to the fire on this, since in 2003 there were members of both parties who thought that a Congressional investigation was likely, or even that it should occur.
Orrin Hatch was one of them. Get your Mom to write him.
