Supreme Court Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor resigned this morning.

SHIT! FUCK! DAMN!

She is the first SCOTUS member to resign since 1994. And it’s a certainty that BushCo will put forth a theocon wingnut judge who:

• doesn’t believe in a person’s right to privacy.
• doesn’t trust a woman to make her own health decisions.
• believes that homosexuality is a choice.
• believes that science is bunk.
• works on the “shoot first – ask questions later” schedule.
• believes that torture is an acceptable form of punishment and interrogation.
• believes that a skewed Biblical interpretation trumps the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I truly fear for the future of the United States. If Spain can legalize same-sex marriage in its Catholic-dominant society, while the theocons in the U.S. would virtually jump at the chance to lynch gay people, OB/GYNs, non-Christians, agnostics and atheists, then these United States are truly in the throes of a death spiral.

Any thinking person must fight to get these knee-jerk ideologues out of D.C., out of local and state governments, and out of our personal lives.
