D.C. police officer Joe Gentile was run down while performing his usual volunteer traffic duty at the busy intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and M Streets in Georgetown. Joe has been doing this duty for over two years, and is well-known to anybody who spends any time in Georgetown’s shopping district. Joe is a super person, well-loved by all who cross through his intersection.
Whether you know him by name, or just by his commanding-yet-calming presence in the midst of the often-challenging traffic during rush hour, it’s sad to hear that Joe was taken down by a young driver. He suffered a serious head injury and is currently in hospital.
Get well soon, Joe!
