I read with some intrigue – and trepidation – about the impending return of The Muppet Show. Now that Disney once again has control over the Henson Enterprises empire, they are set to launch a new iteration of the free-form puppet comedy that many in my generation recall as the show to watch.
That said, the London Times has published a great article on why there is reason to worry. In “The Disney Muppets: why that just isn’t funny,” author Caitlin Moran takes a dip into the sea of Muppet and Henson history, explaining why Disney ownership may dull the edge of Muppet anarchy.
