A shout out to my friend Lee, who posted a wonderful review of a Salon article on Richard Dawkins. In the article, by Gordy Slack, Dawkins explains why using religion as a basis for government and education is just plain wrong. Dawkins, a British ethnologist, talks about many modern religions acting as “a virus,” and how the closed-mindedness of those who cite religion as the ultimate moral compass waste time and energy, both in terms of individuals and society, as a whole.
It’s a great article, well worth the read (and well worth sitting through the advert to get the free day pass). If anything, it gets you thinking about your own beliefs, something that doesn’t seem to happen enough in today’s world.
