Nats fans can’t catch a break! After promising that “the Metro will stay open if games run past midnight,” Nats management has reneged on this plan, and won’t pay the $18,000 per incident charge to keep the system open after midnight on weekdays (the system is open until 3:00 am on Friday and Saturday nights).
Metro has traditionally charged teams a fee if games let out late. The team for which this is usually the case, the Redskins, happily pays the fee. However, the Nats won’t have anything to do with it, stating that Metro “should be happy with the extra ridership that baseball brings to the system.” Whatever.
I just contacted the Nats’ offices to let ’em know how I feel. You should, too!
