The first game was a blast – a cold blast. The Mets beat the Nats, 4-3. Our seats (in section 427) were quite good. We could see most of the action, save for the deepest part of left field. The weather managed to remain dry, but bitterly cold and windy. I defnintely underdressed for the occasion, and will remember to bring a blanket and/or more warm layers for home opening day on April 14. And I need to write to Aramark, the concessions vendor at RFK, and request that they have a bigger selection of hot beverages – only coffee was available, and it sold out quickly. My kingdon for cocoa!
I managed to find one of the elusive DC-logo Nats caps (type 1 and type 2) for sale in the stadium concourse. It’s not the official batting practice hat (which is nylon), but a “casual fade” version of the same (navy cap with red bill). It’s great – after all, it’s tough to swallow wearing a “W” on one’s head when you don’t support the current president. Sure, I can claim “it also stands for Wesleyan University,” and I did take a handful of grad courses there, but still…. DC will do for now.
I’ll post pictures tomorrow, once I get fresh batteries into the digicam. But this much is true: it’s great to see baseball back in DC, at RFK.

I can totally understand not wanting to wear a red, white, and blue hat with a big W on it around Washington…
When were you at Wesleyan? (I assume that you mean the one in CT)

I attended some GLSP courses at Wes in 2001 and 2002. My partner used to work there, and we used to live a stone’s throw from campus on College Street (across from the late, great Sorelle’s Pizza).
But both she and I are Conn College alums – go Camels!

Hey, speak for yourself! I’m both a Conn (’96) and a Wesleyan (MALS ’01) alum.
